Photo Hunt: Memorial

Our local cemetery, originally uploaded by theclutterbells.
Near our house there is a small cemetery, with many graves from the original settlers in the area. The area was settled by farmers many of them European, including some German and Dutch. There is a lot of history and many interesting memorials from the fancy to the simple and plain. I liked this one with hardy plants growing

  1. Looking at the grave, I got to thinking: the person buried underneath it must have been a lover of nature...

  2. seeing this reminds me of my hubby's memorial plan that wasn't used as he opted to be cremated according to his last wish.

    thanks for the visit. :)

  3. I love visiting graveyards but they are becoming a thing of the past.
How nice that this is lovingly tended still.

    Happy weekend Colin.

  4. Yes

Very hard to buy a plot or even a lease here in Adelaide. We have friends, whose parents have bought plots in country areas that they like.

Most people are cremated and put in a little post box type memorial.

  9. What a great idea to have a little garden of sorts marking your gravesite. I'd love to have something like that for my own if I were going to be buried. It makes me think of the book Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls.

  12. Excellent take on this weeks theme. I love little grave yards, seems like their story is more personal.
