Scottish Politicians Huff and Puff Patriotically

Scottish politicians in Scotland have forced an enormous back down by their Scottish colleagues in Westminster.

Public buildings in Scotland will be allowed to fly the Saltire year-round following a government climbdown in response to pressure from nationalists.

UK ministers will this week announce the lifting of restrictions on flag flying that have been in force since 1924. The rules stipulate that the Union Jack must must take precedence over all national flags on 18 days each year.

Scottish government buildings with only one flagpole must take down the Saltire and replace it with the Union Jack on specified national days including the Queen's birthday, Remembrance Day and Commonwealth Day. The decision to give the Saltire equal status has been welcomed by the Scottish National party. “It's a recognition that we are in charge of our flag flying arrangements,” said a senior Scottish government source.

Wow! Important stuff. The Scots are now in charge of flag flying. Now that they have won the big one, how about fixing the roads?

In Favour of Australia Week

With Australia Day fast approaching, Sam Kekovic hits the nail on the head with a call for Australia Week. Why Not? This is a great country and we need a full week to celebrate. I think that the brewers could live with that.

Elizabeth has all the background on this lamb eating orgy except the number of cute lambs that will be slaughtered to meet the demand for 21 lamb meals for all Australians during this new and extended lamb eating orgy.

Hoorah!

Happy Birthday Your Majesty.

Another year Charles and Camilla are not King and Queen.

Inspired by Theo Spark, with his first posting of a lady with a top on. I don't think Her Majesty fits into the Totty Category.

Countdown to March 14 St Kitts and Nevis

As Australia turn the screws on England in Perth, likely securing the Ashes at the same time, Scotland cruised to a 6 wicket ODI thrashing by Bangladesh in the first of a two match series.

The second match of the Cricket World Cup between my country of birth and country of residence is likely to be pretty one sided, with the first ten over score likely to be 6 for 47 or 176 for no wicket. Us patriotic Scots can only hope that it is not a rout. My colleagues cannot understand why I quietly support England when I am Scottish. I mean I detest the English Football team with all the overpaid prima donnas and yet I have a sentimental affection for the English Cricket Team. I will likely have to take the day off on the 15th. Even the most optimistic cannot hope for a result.

I am curious if the Tartan Army Bagpiper will be allowed to play?
