Going Flying? Write your own story

With Qantas flavour of the day on slow news days, at the moment, you don't have to board the Flying Kangaroo to have some dramas.

Courtesy of Aussie Bloggers Forum, you can write your own dramatic story of chaos, mayhem and inconvenience in the sky. Not quite like this, but still amusing.

In a previous life, I used to fly a lot in the days when you could breeze into the airport half an hour before the scheduled departure (often less in Singapore) and be out of there on time. Some of the smaller airports in the mining towns are fun when you can turn up when you see the plane arrive.

That all changed on September 11. We flew that week out of San Francisco. It was like a military occupation, deserted, with soldiers patrolling the runway.

Most of the domestic flights that my colleagues take are longer getting to and from the airport than flying itself.

The most dramatic things I experienced in my flying career was having a seagull get sucked into one of the engines at San Francisco (the engine has to be stripped down) and some excrutiating waits and delays flying around America.

To the skies? Not if I can help it.
