Nicolas Hayek - founder of Swatch to spend time underground

A scientist by training, Hayek did not design the Swatch watch – the original was the work of a team of Swiss engineers – but he marketed it with the innate genius of a showman-entrepreneur. He came up with a concept that combined disposability, affordability and reliability, resulting in a funky, no-frills watch for every occasion.
Today Swatch launches some 300 designs every year, of which about half are phased out after six months, making them highly collectable and something of a cult item; there is a Swatch collectors' club and dealers trade in rare editions.

I had many of the more funky watches, which I wore with pride. The funkier the better.

Flying Dog Shit Alert

Dog owners with pooper scooper nightmares can rest easy now that Complex Shit has been captured.
A giant inflatable dog turd by American artist Paul McCarthy has blown away from an exhibition in the garden of a Swiss museum, bringing down a power line and breaking a greenhouse window before landing again.
The art work, titled Complex Shit, is the size of a house.

Since we inherited our neighbours dog, Rufus on a long term arrangement while he is in hospital, Muggins has been on poo patrol on an almost daily basis. This is the one job in the house that is mine alone, joy of joys. Spotty liked to poo on the lawn, which was pretty manageable. Rufus on the other hand likes to shit in exactly the spot that we like to walk to hang out clothes and put out rubbish. Little Bugger. Cute, but still a little bugger.
