Discount Costa on ETS

New South Wales Labor Treasurer Michael Costa has slammed the Garnaut Report.

And so he would if he based his budget projections on hawking off a bunch of depreciating polluting assets that will be worth even less if the reports recommendations are implemented.

Bummer when your budget balancing efforts don't look so good once emissions trading schemes are implemented.

After all the Great Barrier Reef is in Queensland. Why should he or the good citizens of New South Wales care?

So much for coast to coast Labor harmony.

Thanks Hugh Manatee

What is the Solution to Pollution?

As part of a series of environmental articles, Time has a list of the worlds ten most polluted cities.

These are intractable issues, going to the core of economic development and environmental management conflicts. Although I don't work on environmental management and clean up projects of this scale, the technical issues are very similar and it is possible to scale up many of the proven solutions. The major barriers are technology transfer, economic restructuring and political will.

Some advice if you are visiting. Don't drink the water, don't eat the vegetables and don't breathe the air. Other than that, you should be fine. For those who live there, it is inevitable that there will be negative health consequences.

China Polluting the World

Depressing Reading and it will continue to get worse.

Be glad that you are doing your bit to clean up the environment by filtering some of this pollution through your lungs.

Look for factories to be shut down for months during the Olympics.

Thanks for the Happy News Two Wolves
