Oh goodness, that brings a tear to my eye. When I was a kid growing up in Adelaide, it was the flowering jacarandas in our neighbourhood that signalled to me that Christmas was getting close. I still associate them with Christmas. A couple of years ago I was visiting the island of Gotland (just off the Swedish east coast) and saw a jacaranda flowering in their Botanical gardens. I promptly burst into tears at the sight.
