Photo Hunt: Candy
The Candy King got sobering news at the dentist this week. He will have to curtail his sugar intake. One of his back teeth is showing signs of sugar attack. He is now on a diet of carrots and apples. Not quite true, but we have cut back his sugar addiction therapy dramatically. His missing tooth is now two. Nothing alarming, just normal teeth growth. The kids have never had any issues up to now. He sets the timer and cleans for two minutes every night now.
I was always petrified of the dentist at his age. All they ever wanted to do was to pull out teeth and fill others. Amazing that I have made it to this age with them substantially intact.

It's great that you caught it so early! Speaking as someone who has fillings in nearly every single one of her teeth, this is a good thing. *smile*

Great pic, but poor dear! I am still nervous at the thought of the dentist!
Lovely smile with that missing sweet tooth...!!!
Happy hunting and happy weekend :)
Those back teeth cause no end of trouble. Long may he keep his brilliant smile.
Say G'day to the candy king from me!!
I saw a video last night of a kid getting his first tooth pulled and it was so funny how emotional he was and then how back to normal he went.. :) Ah less candy...
Great shot of the candy king. Good that his dentist caught the issue early.
I love your take on candy this week. Poor little guy needing fillings! I was always afraid, too, even up to a few years ago when I finally found a gentle and sensitive dentist. Now all is fine, but what a lot of anxiety I used to go through! Good job that he's into brushing well now! I took a different approach today, too, so pop on over. :D
I was just as scared Coli. I reckon my mouth represents a major strategic reserve of non ferrous metals!
Colin, you want to know what the latest dental research says? It is the acid in your saliva that makes for cavities, not sugar in your diet. Also over here in the US we have flouride in the water which makes cavities almost non-existent. But I won't tell your son? grandson? if you don't... HA!
I don't recalling being scared of the dentist.
Our youngest just had his check up also.
No cavity so in year he goes back.
My picture is up.
too bad, but better now than later.
Poor kid, no candy any more and cleaning his teeth forever.
Don't you have a lawn to mow or something, you are churning out the posts today. Hannah is so cute in the wedding dress but I doubt Mum was best pleased. Have a good weekend.
Big changes to dentistry than when we were younger. Its virtually pain free these days. Did the tooth fairy visit Ryan?
Cute idea for the theme!
Oh yeah, forgot to say I love your welcom mat! :o)
Hi Colin. I can't stand dentist stories, even the happy-ending ones. Scary?? How about phobic! I can't even handle my students' teeth when they lose them (same age as your boy here). So of course, they are sure to show me each and every one of them that falls out all bloody and all. Some day I'm going to keel over and that'll teach them to tease me.
Thanks everyone. Ryan enjoyed your concerns, but he thinks that he can resist the urge and continue with his good dental habits.
