Breaking News from Wasilla

Sarah Palin - McSame as John McSameImage by sloomis08 via Flickr

Major Pig Theft Averted. and local girl gets big break in politics. Finally the US Election gets interesting.

All you need to know about Wasilla is available three times a week from the Mat-Su Frontiersman.

I have actually been to Wasilla when we visited my former relatives in Alaska. They liked to drive out that way to go hiking and cross country skiing. I only drove through it on the way to and from Fairbanks. Very scenic most of the way.

Australia reminds me of Alaska without the snow, mountains and moose. We have warm weather, desert and kangaroos. Both places are enormous and desolate and almost totally unpopulated outside the coastal areas.

I wonder if Moose Stew is on the menu in the Bistros of St Paul this week.

The U.S. election has gotten interesting? Really? Well, compared to before, I suppose. Soon it will be over and we will have someone else in office who won't do anything for me. Nothing new. Glad when it's over. But your other pics were VERY nice. :)

The more the conservatives get to eat meat, the more interesting it is from afar. I judge them to be nutty and am interested that they are sufficiently powerful to strongarm a gun toting, moose killing and eating, anti abortionist on the population. I judge that the more they celebrate this ladies wacky views, the more they are likely to lose. Those people were always going to vote for McCain. What will happen now is that Obama is going to look more moderate to the middle ground and can win some of the small number of swing states needed to win the whole thing.

It does? Not my first thought when I went there, that's for sure. I could not get over the strange trees with their short branches, due to the short growing season and the shallow layer of soil over the permafrost. But I loved it and would go again any day, well in the summer.

Mostly the empty interior JMB. I loved Alaska during my short visits in the 1980s. December was freezing and dark and May was just a little warmer and lots of light. I loved the trip to Fairbanks and a look at Denali.

Waddaya mean they've got no roos in Alaska?!
Aren't they in plague proportions on every land mass, including Antarctica? :P

Colin, I just got the following comment on BritishSpeak from a Canadian. Is this true? I never heard that. 'Course I don't know that much Australian. The Brits are just now getting up and haven't been of help yet. Not that they would know either, I guess.

"It is amazing how word take on a different meaning. In Canada we refer to a drunk as a lush but I hear to Australians it means slut. Who would have thought one would need a translation dictionary to travel to an English country. "
