Photo Hunt: Support

I have recently started a new phase of my life as a soccer dad. Most Saturday mornings are now spent supporting Ryan and his under nine football (soccer) team. I am continually picked up by the kids on that one. Football is Aussie Rules here in South Australia. I stand corrected each time despite associating football with the round ball game.

As with most things I get involved with, I have ended up on the committee. They still haven't won a game yet or even scored a goal, but they enthusiasm is still high. As a parent you support your kids through thick and thin and this is one way I am doing it. They are just reintroducing football after a few years of lack of parent interest. Hannah has missed out because of the gap. Like so many school activities, it is the parent involvement and support that make a difference.

Hey Colin, I started with T-ball, then both of mine moved to basketball, and at 17 and 20 are still with it.

They both do touch football and oz tag too.

Two very sporty boys I have here.

Hey, my youngest is on his way home from England - on a layover for 18 hours in Singapore.

This takes me back for it was the same in our house, soccer every Saturday till our son left high school. Soccer in the winter and cricket in summer. But not for my daughter. Soccer teams for girls came much later. Never understood that, it is an ideal game for girls. Have a good weekend Colin.

You are so right about kids needing parental support with all things in their lives. And kudos to you for stepping up to coach the team! :D

We have two boy - grown now - but I was spared the dreaded football. Had enough of team sports in school.
You are supportive though - my support was applied elswhere.
Your Donegal history is fascinating. We must have look at Churchill - been through there a few times.

THAT's great support! Well done...

Parental support is essential, they need the security of knowing we're behind them whatever happens.
And anyway, you'll have a ball(!)

What a fantastic way of supporting the team. Great post and have a wonderful week.
My son was stationed at Ft Eustis so I made once a month trips there to visit him. I believe I had a bad experience with the food there too,...... was chinese food though, not Thai. Have a good one.

It's hard for a parent at that age, because, as you say, nothing really happens - they just run up and down and seldom even score. But as bored as you may get, remember the kids are having the time of their life out there. It is worth it. :)
