Our neighbourhood Magpies were squawking early this morning. I went out to investigate and found that our neighbourhood koala had taken up residence in the large tree just across the road. The owner of the property said that she was moving around and using all the trees on his property. I was finally able to get a photograph.
For other interesting garden nature observations, go to
Richard Havers' site where a family of owls are being observed.
Koalas are pretty boring since they sleep most of the day. Owls on the other hand seem to do more dramatic things. Koalas are very cute however. This one has a baby, but it is out of sight. I learned from Hannah's teacher that Koala babies don't have cute marsupial names.
There are a lot more koalas in urban neigbourhoods as they search for food. Meanwhile on Kangaroo Island there are
serious proposals to cull them. It is hard to believe that such a docile animal could be so destructive on an ecosystem.
