New Australian Submarine Sea Trial Disrupted

The Australian Government was tight lipped today over the disruption to the deployment their latest stealth submarine purchase, which is going through last stage sea trials in New York. The submarine was due to be deployed in all marginal electorates in the coming weeks as a sign of the commitment of the government to fight the threat of terrorism.

The trials were being held in secret to ensure that embarrassing Defence Secretary Dr Brendan Nelson didn't know about them. It is understood that the people arrested in the incident were covert Australian Defence Forces personnel.

It is not clear why the claims of stealth characteristics have not been substantiated in the trials.

The Australian Government have an unparalled record of military procurement bungling , particularly submarines and this latest incident is particularly embarrassing.

OK I was just joking.

UK Bombings the Australian Angle

Don't give your SIM card to anyone.

Dr Haneef, the Brisbane Doctor appears to have been charged with giving his SIM card to his cousin two years, therefore recklessly supporting terrorism. He could face up to 25 years in jail. Nasty situation, with an election coming up and the Government looking for angles to close the gap with the Labor Party.

Sounds a little desperate.

John Smeaton Scottish Hero

I must have been the last person to hear about John Smeaton. Anyway I know now. His Wikipedia page, which is being considered for deletion by the way, is John Smeaton (baggage handler), because some other long dead person has that page.

He is pretty famous, with his own website and a Facebook Tribute with over one thousand members.

Selfless bravery rather like the lawyer who went to the aid of the lady in Melbourne is an incredible human trait. We should salute it.

He has had over one thousand pints donated to him on his website a real judge of the value people place in what he did.

Virtual Terrorists Bomb ABC Island

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation Sponsored Island on Second Life has been hit by a terrorist attack. The island, promoting the laid back Aussie way of life and all the good things that an Australian public broadcaster can do for you and the third most visited island on Second Life was obliterated by some mean spirited hackers. Virtual repairs are underway. It is not known whether any virtual lives were lost.
