Curly Wurly Hannah

Elizabeth twisted Hannah's hair last night so that it could be curly for her big day today. She loves it! The Adelaide Credit Union Christmas Pageant, the largest Christmas Parade in the World. It has been going every year since 1933 when a forward thinking worthy thought that Adelaide in the middle of the depression needed something to cheer people up. It has come a long way since then. There are over 50 floats and other bands, entertainers and 164 clowns. Hannah's friends' dad puts up the stands for the current worthy's including His Worship the Mayor and they are allocated prime spots. Lucky Hannah. Apparently they got lots of individual attention and seperate mini shows.

In the afternoon there is a Halloween Party at the library with Weekend Warrigals (Aboriginal for Dingo), her fortnightly kids club. Rock On Twisty Hair!!

We used to go to the Pageant in Kirkcaldy with my Grandparents when we were little. My nutty Grandfather, Walter, used to dress up as a woman and raise money for charity. Pretty daring for those days.

It is an exciting time for her. Her 8th birthday is next week and she is counting down the days. Her party is not until later in the month, but I am sure that she will cope. Only 7 weeks to Christmas if that doesn't cut it.
