Facebook Gets Rid of International Verification

Allelujah

No more annoying number letter identification quizzes on Facebook for non US users. You can authenticate using an international mobile phone, which I just did in less than a minute.

Facebook just continues to get better.

You can search for Blogpower and all the people in Blogpower who are on Facebook are there. For me you could search for Colin Campbell, of which there are many.

But what's it for? Really. I'm "hip" to technology, I know my RSS from my elbow, but I've yet to see the point of this. God knows I have enough things to waste time with online already...

I think that it is definitely heavily influenced by being targeted to students, with a lot of free time. I don't use it that much, but it is fun. Tom and Jeremy were early adopters. I thought that it was a bit pretentious, but I have changed my mind. I think like everything, you should try it. It is an excellent time waster if you use it much. I was scanning some articles yesterday that were trying to calculate the economic impact of Facebook in the UK. Pretty high was their estimate.

I signed up, and got as far as joining the BP group, but I can't see what else I'm going to do with it. Still, something might come up.
