Fantastic John Martyn resource. Go on, you know you want to. If you haven't listened, why not?
Red wine and chocolate are good for the mind, scientists claim | Mail Online
It is the perfect excuse to round off a meal with an after-dinner mint and one last glass of Merlot.
Research suggests that red wine and chocolate are good for the mind.
It is thought that polyphenols - plant chemicals abundant in dark chocolate and wines - widen blood vessels, speeding the supply of blood to the brain.
This provides it with a rush of oxygen and sugars, making complex calculations easier and quicker.
Those who like to indulge will be particularly pleased to know that it is thought that polyphenols are more effective in combination than alone.
In other words, having some chocolate with your red wine could be better for you than just having a drink alone.

Fifa crisis deepens as Sepp Blatter goes before ethics committee | Football | The Guardian
Money rules eh Sepp? These guys make the ICC and IOC look like paragons of virtue. FIFA needs to be blown up and reinvented.
As the most senior figures in world football descended on London for tonight's Champions League final, the main topic of conversation was not the clash between Manchester United and Barcelona but the shattered credibility of Fifa.
Blatter was due to attend but it is unclear whether he will make the trip from Zurich in light of the latest allegations. He said: "I cannot comment on the proceedings that have been opened against me. The facts will speak for themselves."
"I think the process is fast descending into a farce," the sports minister Hugh Robertson said. "It's impossible to have a sensible election when both of the candidates have been accused of corruption. The sensible thing would be to suspend the election until these allegations have been properly investigated."
The claims against Blatter mean that 10 of Fifa's 24-man executive committee have now either been found guilty or accused of corruption in the last 12 months.
Fifa's ethics committee was obliged to investigate Blatter under its own code after Bin Hammam claimed the president knew all about alleged payments handed to Caribbean Football Union (CFU) officials at a conference on 10-11 May.

The week in pictures: 20 May 2011 - Telegraph
Great series of photographs. This one reminded me how hazardous this kind of work is in many other countries. For all China's progress, they have a long way to go in worker health and safety.
BBC News - Nigerians set to find out how to get to Sesame Square
Our reality here in Nigeria is that there are hundreds of thousands of Aids orphans," she adds. "We want all children, including those with HIV, to be able to relate with the characters.

It's Oh So Quiet - Betty Hutton or Bjork
I prefer Betty. Boy could she scream elegantly.
Photo Hunt: Clutter
While I could post photos of where I live, where I have a pretty cluttered environment, I found this shop window cluttered with tourist tat. All things stereotypically Aussie available in large quantities.
North To Alaska ~ Johnny Horton
One of my favourite rockabilly songs by one of my favourite Country and Western Singer.
Great life story on Wikipedia. He actually did got to Alaska for a while to look for gold. This excerpt relating to his premonition of death and death at the hands of a drunk driver is eerie.
Premonitions of death
Horton had premonitions of his death and started telling friends and family that he would soon die at the hands of a drunk. He asked his sister to pray and care for Billie Jean and their girls, and he had his mother visit for the week. He canceled his scheduled attendance at the premiere of North To Alaska and tried to back out of his next gig, a nightclub date at the Skyline club in Austin, Texas on November 4, 1960. A major singer, which he had now become, should not have been playing such a engagement for such little reward ($800), but the consensus is that he needed money again, and together with Franks' medical bills for his recent hernia operation, any money was welcome.[citation needed]
[edit]Death
Tommy Tomlinson flew in from Nashville, where he was producing a duet album with Jerry Kennedy (Tom and Jerry). Johnny used the morning to make arrangements to go duck hunting with Claude King once he'd returned from Austin and he also telephoned Johnny Cash for a chat. Cash didn't accept the call, and always regretted it. Against his wife's wishes, Franks got out of his sick bed and they began traveling to Austin.
When they got to the Skyline club, Horton stayed in his dressing room, saying that a drunk would kill him if went near the bar. After the show, they started the 220-mile (350 km) journey back to Shreveport. Tomlinson was in the back, observing that Horton was driving too fast - Franks was asleep in the front. About 2 a.m., near Milano, Texas they were crossing a bridge when a truck came at them, hitting both sides of the bridge before plunging into Horton's Cadillac. He had practiced avoiding head-on collisions by driving into verges, but on the narrow bridge he had no opportunity. He was still breathing when he was pulled out of the car but died on the way to the hospital. The 19-year-old truck driver, James Davis, was intoxicated. Horton had died due to a drunk. It is believed that a sun visor rod pierced Horton's skull. Franks suffered head injuries and young Tomlinson had multiple leg fractures and nine months later, had his left leg amputated. Davis was virtually unscathed.
Tillman's preacher brother, Billy, performed the funeral service on November 8, with Billie Jean becoming a widow for the second time at the age of 28. Johnny Cash read Chapter 20 from the Book of John, having flown in on a chartered airplane.

Capturing 30 Years of Age - My Modern Metropolis
Ever think about how you and your siblings have physically changed throughout the years? If so, you'll appreciate Nicholas NIxon’s The Brown Sisters, an incredibly interesting series that reveals the gradual changes that come with time. The women in his life (or more specifically his wife and her three sisters) were photographed every year for 35 years.
This series is an accomplishment for Nixon because, though many have attempted to document the passage of time, only a few have succeeded. Notice that in each shot, the sisters are standing in exactly the same order.

Moon over Miami?
Out walking with the dog tonight, the position of the moon behind the trees made for some interesting shots.
