The Emperors have No Clothes

Sidney Blumenthal analyses Emperors Bush and Cheney's latest adventures in Mesapotamia . The latest strategy is to completely ignore public opinion and deny reality. Reminds me of a famous children's story.

Bush and Cheney will stand before their Maker one day and answer some keen questioning but they're only being drawn along by a larger malevolence which many presidents have alluded to in the past.

From the moment the democratic process was abandoned in Florida on the say-so of the Supreme Court, all of this Iraq business was on the way.

It's the arrogance, the denial of reality [which you mention]and the contempt in which they hold the common man which is the most galling for me.

You need to read the book The Triumph of the Airheads by Shelley Gare. That visual metaphor will mean so much more. It's just perfect for how we are at the moment. The Triumph of the Airheads
.

Hello Beerli

Interesting idea. We are so swamped by stupid lightweight thinking, along the lines of the news anchor at late morning news this morning, breathlessly asking the on the scene reporter what people were doing on the beach for Australia Day? I mean hello what do you think they are doing and do we need that much detail.
