Saturday Photo Hunt: Original - Unique Tiles and a Beach Face

These are two of a number of remaining tiles which make up part of an arch at our local park. When the community succesfully fought against a council plan to turn the park into an oval, and to develop a local park instead, this was marked with a number of different art projects, one was the arch, with many individual tiles developed by a local artist. The tiles depict wildlife present in South Australia. Many of these have been broken and lost and the arch is in a very sad state and sure to be demolished before too long. I photographed many of the tiles that were left. I love the colours and the textures.

This is just one of the many unique sand sculptures that my kids have made on the beautiful Adelaide beaches.

I am in full support of art in public places. We have a program here in Washington state which sets aside funds for this. There are some neat pieces, not only in cities, but in smaller towns like my own. Nice entry!

Welcome to Photohunt - you are new, aren't you?!

Lovely tiles. And the sand sculpture is just in my line. I made a similar - but not so good - one on holiday last week.

The art tiles are so interesting and it's a shame that they are likely to be lost. I have a weakness for art tiles of all different kinds. However, as much as I liked the art tiles, I especially love your children's sand sculpture. Very nice post.

Too bad that these will probably not remain. They are very colourful and quite meaningful. Sand plus children = original creation.

The tiles look cool. So sad if these are going to be removed soon. The sand face is quite original, funny too.

Lovely original pieces for sure. I love the sand art. Of course i love beaches, so don't even mention yours to me. We're entering the crappy winter here now. I don't like winter, I love summer - and beaches :-)

Its a shame that in time it has deteriorated. Those tiles are pretty. I especially like the sand sculpture,.. that was pretty interesting. Great photos and have a good weekend.
