Driza-Bone r us

You learn something new every day. I had never heard of Driza-Bone and there is President Putin and Hu and their buddies wearing these Aussie iconic stockmen garb.

Wow it is really boring. I wanted to see some Aboriginal body art or at least a singlet and barbie wear.

You can get them over here: famous Australian coats. Are you sure you live in Australia?

I was hoping for wife-beaters just for the headlines....

It was a disappointing choice for "national costume". I thought the days of Driza-Bones & Akubras being the definition of Australia were well behind us.

It is also ironic that in our drought-stricken nation we seem to have a fetish for handing out raincoats to visiting world leaders. Maybe singlets, stubbies & hats with corks might have been a better choice.

You have also made a good point about Aboriginal culture (not) being included. We have some brilliant indigenous-inspired clothing ranges here in Oz.

Driza-Bones are just another boring choice by an uninspiring government.

I've seen some of the range here, but made in the USA. I thought that was a rip off. They are incredibly ugly however.
Not like my red Akubra hat or R M Williams boots.

Hey it never rains here, I am not a stockman, and I obviously have serious character flaws. I shall be redoubling my efforts to integrate into this society. Thanks for all the positive encouragement. I will be sure never to admit to anything ever again.

Seriously I was aware of them in generic terms, just not the name. Is that acceptable?

Yes, getting them to be dressed by our aborigines would have been brilliant...but I thought the driza-bone were pretty ironic given the puff of hot air over climate change!
