With all the focus on Beijing, don't forget Glasgow is hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2014. This photograph exposes the worst in cynical Scottish thinking about what it means. Very confronting. That said, Glasgow was European City of Kulcha. If it can do that it can host the Commonwealth Games.

In Scotland again?
Isn't there anywhere else in the Commonwealth? The games seems to return to Scotland rather too often.
I have vivid memories of the last Commonwealth Games in 1974 in Edinburgh. It pissed down the whole day. I recommend only buying tickets for indoor events.
I must admit that I am sadly uninformed about the Commonwealth Games that are here referenced. But I DID squeeze from an Aussie blogger the meaning of "schmozzle"--at least HIS definition of it. Seem it is the same thing as when our baseball players get into a little rhubarb. Nothing major.
You may be interested, however, that in my internet travels to find out about the meaning of this word, that the Irish claim they are it's true owners. Not trying to start a schmozzle here. Just sayin' :)

I think it's just Glasgow City's Council's way of getting permission to bulldoze drab bits of the city to build facilities while getting someone else to pick up the tab. But maybe I'm just too cynical.
