I wonder how much the we don't want a Toff leading the country will resonate in certain parts of the country. No more than we don't want a black man in the White House resonates with many Americans.

As a commentator was noting tonight, this is definitely a year when the Democrats should win except there is the x factor of race.

Powerful stuff.

I read Tom Paine's post and it all made sense. As somebody who has had to tinker with mental health issues, his argument was very reasonable.

Hard to imagine him coming back from this. Labour would get a big bounce if he resigned until people realised that the alternatives are dire.
