The Glory of Winning

Leaving aside all the Surrender of the Ashes Ho Ha, which you can find everywhere on the web, it is great to see a tremendous sporting challenge fulfilled. It was executed like a well planned business take over and entertaining at the same time.

England know how to compete. Australia know how to win.

Yes, that is quite true. Well done to Australia. We need to start planning now for the 2009 Ashes - and take it as seriously as the Aussies have done.

But, TD, we don't take sport seriously in the UK. If we did we'd ensure that our schoolchildren would have one full day a week doing competitive sport. Our education system, town planners, industrialists and so on couldn't give a hoot about British Sport. We don't deserve to have the 2012 Olympics here.

Yes you're right. Iain Dale reported last week I think on a Lib Dem MP who was still arguing for competitive sport to be taken out of schools.

Never have so many been so disappointed by something so inevitable.

Wise words James. By death, perhaps?
